The Greatest Generation is shrinking every day. Soon, they’ll all be gone, and men like Charles Bird will live only in our memory. Men who left high school to fight the Nazis. Men who made it home to work in the coal mines and provide for their families and live their lives as best they could. And in Birdy’s case, men who finally got their high school diploma at the tender age of 99.
Today, Birdy is 100 years old and still hanging tough. We had a chance to hang out not too long ago, and I was honored to meet his family and make his acquaintance. I was also delighted to present him the Valor and Victory Series from US Money Reserve, Inc. as a small token of our collective appreciation for his service. Each coin is five ounces of solid silver and pays homage to a consequential battle of the Second World War, including the one that Birdy will never forget.
Please join me in thanking Birdy for his service, for being part of the Greatest Generation, and for risking everything to preserve the freedoms we hold dear. And Happy Independence Day weekend!
