My old friend Tim Allen stopped by the studio the other day for a quick chat that went on for two hours. I didn’t know what we were going to discuss, and neither did he. Which is probably why we touched on everything from the importance of philosophy, shop class, redemption, mothers, quantum physics, skilled labor, The Book of Job, Schrodinger’s cat, the surprising appeal of ballet, a sense of humor, and sense of irony, a sense of wonder, his time in jail, his new TV show on ABC, and the end of the world as we know it. Not exactly what you’d expect from America’s Dad, but precisely what you’d hope to hear from a genuinely curious cat who has been there and done that a hundred times over.
Our whole conversation is here. It’s a good one. Below, is a short clip featuring a story about his beloved mother, who resisted his best attempts to get her into a wheelchair with a level of determination not often associated with women in their mid-nineties.
