A Big Thanks to Friends and a Quick Favor

The “thanks” part is in return for making Something to Stand For a hit. The film was a limited release, and rushed into a relatively small number of theaters in time for the 4th of July. We didn’t have a lot of time to promote it, but people came out to see this love letter to America in droves, and the feedback has been nothing short of incredible. Aside from all the great reviews, (including a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes,) the most common question comes from people who are wondering if the movie will ever be available on a streaming service. The short answer is, I sure hope so. I’m not sure precisely how to broker such a deal, but I’m going to figure it out shortly. Toward that end – a favor.

If you’re among those who would like to see Something to Stand For on a major streaming service, (or simply watch it again, over and over, as my mother has promised to do,) please let me know in the comments below. I haven’t done this before but suspect the studios might look favorably upon licensing a movie they know people want to see. Your enthusiasm here would go a long way.

Also – to those who have asked about a sequel or something similar, (Something to Work For?) I’m thinking about it, but waiting to see just how crazy the next few months are likely to be. For now, I’d like to focus on finding a permanent home for this unapologetically patriotic film that people seem to love, and then, maybe take a week off. Or possibly two.

Hope you all had a great holiday.

Thanks,
Mike

PS. I’ll be announcing the next batch of work ethic scholarship recipients later this week on this page. It’s going to be a record breaker. Probably 300 individuals, and well over $2 million in scholarships. Much more on that later.

PPS. Apparently, a few dozen theaters have extended the run for a week or so. If you’re still hoping to see the film in a theater, just enter your zip code at https://somethingtostandfor.movie/ It’s probably no longer playing in a theater near you, (if indeed, it ever was,) which is why I’m hoping to find a home on a streamer…
