Dear Joe Biden:

Dear Joe Biden:

Mike Rowe here, Dirty Jobs, etc. We haven’t met, but I’ve followed your career with interest, and I appreciate your service to our country. I’m writing today because I run a non-profit foundation called mikeroweWORKS, which I think you’ll like. Check it out. mikeroweWORKS.org.

mikeroweWORKS was established twelve years ago on Labor Day, for the express purpose of closing America’s skills gap. Toward that end, I’ve spent a lot of time challenging the high cost of college, extolling the many virtues of learning a skilled trade, confronting the many myths and misperceptions that discourage people from pursuing a skill that’s in demand, and doing what I can to get shop class back into high schools. (That’s me, up there on a billboard, so you know it must be true.)

In recent years, I’ve been offering work-ethic scholarships to high-school graduates who wish to pursue a career in the skilled trades. So far, we’ve helped over a thousand people get the training they need to begin careers as welders, plumbers, electricians, auto technicians, and various other vocations that employers often struggle to fill. To date, we’ve distributed over $5 million dollars, and this year, I hope to do even more. Thus, I’m writing to see if you’d like to send me an autographed bathrobe to be auctioned off before the election.

Admittedly, this is a weird request, but I’ve auctioned off a lot of other weird things to raise money over the years, and as you can see from the attached photos, this is not the weirdest. However, if you do decide to send me an autographed bathrobe, I’ll post a video of me, sitting at my kitchen table, wearing your robe and drinking coffee. I’ll also encourage the six million people on my Facebook page to bid on it, and express my sincere thanks for your support.

What do you say? An autographed Joe Biden bathrobe, auctioned off by the Dirty Jobs Guy, to help close America’s Skills Gap? How can you say no? On behalf of everyone at mikeroweWORKS, and America’s next generation of skilled workers, we’d be grateful.

Mike Rowe

PS Full disclosure, I did the exact same thing four years ago with a bathrobe signed by Donald Trump, and raised over $15,000. I’m betting I could get just as much for one of yours…

PPS. It doesn’t have to be a bathrobe. Anything you can autograph that I can auction off would be well-received and much appreciated. A signed mask for instance, would probably fetch a pretty penny. Just ask your folks to drop me a line at info@mikeroweWORKS.com, and we’ll give you the shipping address. Thanks again.
