Today I learned that a roughneck in Oklahoma can make $80,000 in his first year on the job, working just six months. Some of the guys I talked to use that extra time to freelance in other trades. Plumbing, electric, HVAC…the need is there, and the opportunities are endless. It’s not a cakewalk – that’s for sure. The shifts are long, the work is physical, and while I was there, the temperature ranged from 29 degrees and blustery, to 85 and sweaty. But I don’t think these guys at Red Bluff care. Honestly, I think they kinda like it…
Thanks guys, for your hospitality.
