Tim Pearce—Accuracy Under Fire (Ep. 411)

You’re a cop. You’ve been ambushed. A bullet has shattered your humerus, (which is not funny,) and now, your right arm is immobilized. Worse, a major artery has been severed, you’re bleeding badly and you’re in extreme agony. But you’re also in a gunfight, and you can’t tend to your wounds or even call for help until or unless you shoot the bad guy who is trying to kill you.

For cops, that scenario is not as uncommon as you might think. In 2023, over 79,000 cops were assaulted. Of those, 466 were assaulted with a firearm. The question is, how do you train for it? How can you prepare someone to be shot in the line of duty?

Tim Pearce is a retired cop who has been there, done that, and lived to tell the tale. He’s also invented a device that simulates the effect of a gunshot wound. It’s called Accuracy Under Fire, and once it’s broadly implemented in the ranks of our first responders and soldiers, it’s going to save a lot of lives. As an added bonus, I get to demonstrate the device on Chuck. Suffice it say, it works.

Our whole conversation is here. It is, quite literally, a lifesaver.
