I’m writing to thank you for the amenity you sent to my room two weeks ago at The Four Seasons in Houston. That was very thoughtful, and I feel like an ingrate for checking out without expressing my gratitude in person. It was a hectic 24 hours. I’m also hoping you weren’t offended by the fact that I took the wine but left everything else behind. It’s been nearly a year since I’ve eaten a dessert, and I have no intention of backsliding anytime soon. But I can tell you this – resisting your donuts was harder than all the Dirty Jobs put together.
I smelled them before I saw them. Their aroma filled the room, and sent my salivary glands into overdrive. I immediately dropped my bags and went in search of the source, and when I found them, lying there on my counter in all their chocolaty glory, my knees buckled, my peripheral vision began to fade, and a dull humming began in my brain.
Honestly, they sight of them put me into a trance, and if it weren’t for the wine you kindly included, I’d have probably succumbed to the pastries right then and there. But I held firm, took comfort in the vino, and eventually, got myself back under control. Later that evening, on the way back from the loo, I even picked one up waved it under my nose, tempting fate and happily, overcoming it.
Anyway, I do appreciate the gesture, sincerely. You guys run a great hotel. Thanks again.
Mike
PS. Maybe next time, a cheese plate and some beef jerky?
