Many people are upset this morning because two major newspapers – The LA Times and The Washington Post – have declined to endorse Kamala Harris for the upcoming election, opting instead to endorse no one at all. So far, thousands of readers have canceled their digital subscriptions in protest, and dozens of employees at both newspapers have resigned. Meanwhile, lots of other people are wondering how so many supposedly unbiased journalists came to the conclusion that it was their job – their duty, in fact – to not just cover the election, but to tell their readers specifically who to support. As for me, I’m wondering what kind of person cancels a subscription to a newspaper, for failing to tell their readers how to vote.
If you share my concern with the state of journalism today, or worry about the dueling echo chambers into which so many Americans now occupy, you might enjoy the attached interview. Here, we have a reporter that showed no political bias whatsoever, as she grilled my mother and me on a number of topics of no real consequence. Watching her work gives me hope for the future.
