As you might expect from a professional pilot who has made 150 movies, written a song for Kris Kristofferson, overcome a brutal cocaine addiction, and decided not to become a veterinarian shortly after castrating a horse, Dennis Quaid is a lot of fun to talk too. I invited him over because I wanted to discuss the business of playing Ronald Reagan, whom he portrays in a movie aptly called “Reagan,” coming out next month. (His second presidential portrayal, by the way. He also played Clinton a few years ago in “A Special Relationship,” for which he packed on 35 lbs. But that’s another story, and more than a few Big Macs…)
Anyway, we recorded this conversation before the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, which is why that event might feel conspicuously absent from this conversation, especially in light of the famous attempt made on Reagan’s life. Everything else, however, is on the menu, including an original song he shared, thanks to the presence of Chuck’s guitar which just happened to be on the set that day. Our whole conversation is here. https://bit.ly/TWIHI395 A short clip, in which we discuss his favorite role of all time, is attached.
