Making a Case for the Trades in Michigan

Last time I was on Mackinac Island, I picked up horse crap, staggered home from a bar called The Yankee Rebel, and found a pair of elderly twins waiting for me in my bed in 3 am. (Thanks Barsky!) Today I’m hanging out with Governor Snyder and talking about jobs. That’s him to my right hoping to God I don’t say anything too embarrassing at his press conference.

I was invited here to address The Detroit Regional Chamber Policy Conference, which I did yesterday to the best of my ability. Today, I’m talking to more press about the need to redefine the meaning of a “good job” here in Michigan, and shooting some videos to help Michigan reinvigorate the trades. You can see a few here, if you’re so inclined.

For what it’s worth, I think Michigan and it’s Governor have the right idea. They’re reaching out to kids, and showing them that a good education doesn’t always require a four-year degree. And they’re shining a light on the many good opportunities that currently exist for those willing to learn a skill in demand. In short, they’re making a case for the trades, and mikeroweWORKS is proud to be involved.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to look for some twins.
