If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this business, it’s the importance of managing expectations. That usually means lowering them. Allow me to do so now.
What you will see this evening at mikeroweworks.com is merely a holding page. On it, will be a 10 minute video of yours truly, trying to explain what the hell I’m doing. There will be a transcript from another exclusive, one-on-one interview with me, conducted by me. And there will be a place for you to register and send me your comments. There will also be a link back to the Mudroom.
That’s it. During the next few months, I’ll attempt to build a website. For the record, I don’t know what I’m doing. However, I’m going to try and do it with the same kind of transparency that you see on the show. I have nothing, (well, very little) to hide, and I’m not afraid to fail. In fact, I have every confidence that I will fall short of changing the way our country looks at work. The important thing is to try, and that’s what I intend to do. I’m going to try and steer the conversation in a direction that matters, and see what happens. And I’m going to challenge both Main Street and Wall Street to help me. Should be a hoot.
Regardless, if mikeroweWORKS succeeds, it will be for the same reasons Dirty Jobs succeeded – your input. Over the next few months, I’ll use the splash page as a place to keep people informed with videos updates. And when the actual site is ready to launch, I’ll do my best to lower those expectations as well. In the meantime, have a hot dog. Drink a beer. And Happy Labor Day.
